Canon Geoffrey was born brought up and educated in West Hartlepool.   He was baptised as a member of the Church England and was received into the Catholic Church, Easter Sunday 1980.   His was a late vocation and prior to entering Seminary he held a variety of positions such as a Saturday Shop Assistant for a Jeweller, Bank Clerk, Site Cashier and Buyer.  He was organist at his local Parish in Hartlepool for 12 years.   In 1992 he was accepted by Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln for the Primary School Teacher Training Course.   In 1996 he graduated and qualified as a Primary School Teacher.   During his time at Bishop Grosseteste he took up the position of organist at St Hugh’s, Lincoln.   He was ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Malcolm McMahon OP at St Barnabas Cathedral on 29th June 2002.   His first appointment was as an Assistant Priest at the Cathedral.   From January 2006 until September 2011, he was Chaplain to Bishop Malcolm.   In 2011 he returned to the Cathedral and its associated Parishes as Dean and Parish Priest.   In 2017  he moved to St Mary’s, Derby, and its associated Parishes.   In 2019 he was appointed to the Scunthorpe Parishes as PP, along with the Parishes in Gainsborough and Crowle.   He was appointed Parochial Administrator here at SSPP in February 2021.   He enjoys reading, music and theatre.
